An original video essay on Stanley Kubrick's film, A Clockwork Orange, and how Carl Jung's archetype of the Shadow may be able to explain why some people are repulsed by the film and why others are so drawn to it!
One of my favorite films from Stanley Kubrick, A Clockwork Orange is a violent film. There's no way around the violence Kubrick portrays through one of the film's most notable anti-heroes, Alex DeLarge. We are forced to confront it. Yet, I believe there are ways to understand the violence. And that comes by way of a Swiss psychoanalyst, one who has a great influence on many of Kubrick's works, Carl Jung.
