An introduction to Bagnall 2819 by Stuart Nelhams, General Manager at the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, on the day of its dedication at Woody Bay after an extensive overhaul.
In a short ceremony the engine was named Sir George Newnes by his great-nephew Christopher Newnes, in honour of the driving force behind the original Lynton & Barnstaple Railway.
The locomotive was then dedicated by the Reverend Miles Welborn, Rector of of the Lyn Valley Parishes, before taking the assembled VIPs, shareholders and visitors to Killington Lane.
The Trust wishes to thank the Bagnall 2819 Group, the Newnes Family and the Reverend Miles Welborn in the making of this film.
Please don’t forget to like and subscribe to the channel as it helps increase the reach of the railway and its exposure. To help you enjoy the series more easily, we’ve now also created a playlist which has all the Steam on the Moor films in one place.
