Expert warns of health care challenges ahead for Sherrill administration

Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill is preparing to take office at a moment when New Jersey’s health-care system is under extraordinary strain, and one leading voice is calling for the next governor to boost the state's role and help address the challenges ahead.

Linda Schwimmer, president and CEO of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute, warns that the state is facing “stiff headwinds,” including unprecedented federal policy changes that could threaten coverage for more than 1.8 million Medicaid recipients, as well as long-standing problems inside New Jersey’s health agencies.
