This week we go out in search for late season Spanish Mackerel,. however it quickly turned into a Tuna vs Kingfish day after struggling to find the target species.

Northern Bluefin Tuna, also know as "Longtail Tuna" due to their extended tail section of their body compared with other tuna species, are definitely a hard fighting fish. Once they get 85cm and larger they can really pull! I once hooked a 1.3metre Longtail and it took me 45 minutes to land!

But the Yellowtail Kingsfish, also know as Yellowtail Amberjack, have the reputation for fighting you all the way to the surface. They also have an uncanny ability to scrape your line on the bottom or reef and snapping your lines! I. can only imagine how hard a 1.3M Kingie would go!
