Part 4 of the 10-part series, I take on the challenging task of cleaning the go-kart's carburetor. The carburetor had some serious issues, as it was contaminated with both water and rust, which had built up inside over time. This is a problem due to a leak in the go kart gas tank allowing moisture and corrosion to affect sensitive components like the carburetor.
The carburetor in question was still the original one from the factory, and it presented an additional challenge because of the screws used in its assembly. The screws were tapered, meaning they were designed in a way that made them nearly impossible to remove without causing damage. This type of design is sometimes used to deter tampering, but it can make maintenance and repairs much more difficult.
Despite not removing the screws, I managed to open up the carburetor just enough to perform a thorough cleaning. Even though I couldn’t fully disassemble the carb due to the tamper-proof screws, I was able to clean out the rust and water inside, which had likely been causing the go-kart to run poorly or not start at all. I used specialized cleaning agents to carefully remove the built-up debris and ensure the carburetor was in a functional state.
The process wasn’t without its challenges, but with some ingenuity and perseverance, I was able to get the carburetor cleaned up enough to allow the go-kart to start and run again. While this might not have been a perfect repair due to the inability to fully disassemble the carburetor, it was enough to get the go-kart back on track and operational, which was the ultimate goal of this episode. In future episodes, I might revisit the carburetor for a more detailed overhaul if needed, but for now, the go-kart is up and running thanks to the cleaning work I did in this episode.
This is not a How to video, I just recorded myself working on it and put it up so people who want to watch me work on it can watch me. I actually do not know much about this go kart, i'm learning as i work on it. Subscribe and Enjoy the video.
