The March of the Preobrazhensky regiment "Марш Преображенского полка" was written in the time of Peter the Great as the official march of the Preobrazhensky regiment ; it was also used as an unofficial national anthem in imperial Russia.
It is used often in Russia, also in the annual Victory Day parade for the trooping the colors (Flag of Russia and Banner of Victory). It is also the slow march of the Royal Marines. Several people have also written lyrics for the song.
Concerning the "Stalinist Era" part of the title;
The March of the Preobrazhensky regiment isn't known to have been an official march in the Soviet Union (the Preobrazhensky regiment was disbanded in 1917), but it had been played by Soviet military orchestras.
The role of the Preobrazhensky regiment (Honor Guards) was taken up by the NKVD 1st Special Duties Division and 73rd Special Duties Battalion when the two merged together in 1944. At that time they were known as the "Honor Guard Company", but later renamed to 99th Independent Commandant's Battalion (1949) and later to the 1st Independent Honor Guard Company (1956) before being officially renamed to the 154th Independent Commandant's Regiment (1979).
This particular version was performed and recorded sometime between 1934–1944.
I speculate it may have been used by the Honor Guard Company, but I have absolutely no evidence to back that up.
