Through the Floods Together | Tigere Walks with the Elephant Herd

We are extremely grateful for all the heartfelt messages and support we have received during these severe floods. Your kindness means more to us than words can express.

While there is still a possibility of rain over the next two to three days, our team remains on high alert. Once the weather clears, we will begin assessing any damage across the reserve.

Despite the challenging conditions, there have been no changes to the elephants’ daily routine, and they are coping remarkably well with the extreme weather. The reserve is far from ideal at the moment, as you can see with Mambo sinking into the deep mud, but the elephants are strong, careful, and experienced enough to safely navigate their way out.

In this video, Tigere heads out on foot through the bush to check on the herd, many of whom are happily soaking up as much mud as possible. Mud baths are clearly a highlight, even in these difficult conditions.

Our dedicated carer team is also doing well despite the harsh environment. Their commitment to caring for the elephants remains unwavering, no matter the circumstances.
