REFLECTIONS
The Two piece wings (L&R panels) takes around 10 mins to setup at the field.
Nice big hatch for battery servo and receiver access. A Good design.
Piano Wire undercarriage looks a little weak, looks like it will bend easily. Have now added sprung undercarriage and looks a little more scale like.
Flight time 8 mins approx on my current setup as above, depending on throttle use. You could probably get a good 12 mins if gently cruising around. Can fit a 4S 5000mAh battery inside.
Take off was on full power. Once up will cruise quite scale like just above 1/3 throttle.
A little more power would be nice.
Ailerons rolls were very slow and Barrel like, even with throws above the recommended. Looses a lot of height so try these high up initially. Have now increased throws further and added Differential.
Rudder very reactive, really kicks the tail end round, and again looses height, have now reduced the rudder throw.
Will do loops but you need the speed on entry to get over the top. Its not a 3D machine.
When cruising it does look the part.
I 3D printed a Wing Walker frame and Wing Walker that locks into to / replaces the top wing hatch. (Just to be different !! I know its not the right type of plane but had to try it !!) As expected, this moved the CG back slightly and added even more drag. She still managed to fly under control, was just more sluggish. Again the extra bit of power would have helped. (Vid to follow)
