Jullay to all audiences...
Here, I'm presenting The Jalthaet Digrim.
In this program, we have a Guest My friend Lundup Dorjay recently shared the inspiring journey of his village, Tar, becoming a Community Conserved Area (CCA). The people of Tar have even built their own Passive Solar Community Hall, entirely based on community demand and participation. Today, this building stands as a model for every village in Ladakh.
Inspired by this, we both are planning to work towards making my hometowns, Tarchit and Hanupata, recognised as CCAs.
🔹 Tarchit – This village is home to one of the rarest species of pine tree, locally known as Bakmatseley. Every household in Tarchit has planted and protected this tree for conservation as well as beautification.
🔹 Hanupata – This village has a rich presence of Juniper. The local women’s self-help group works day and night to conserve and protect this sacred plant.
We both sincerely appeal to every villager of Tarchit and Hanupata, and to all organisations working in environmental protection, to join hands with us in this important mission. Together, we can preserve our natural heritage and create a model of sustainable community-led conservation for Ladakh.
