As I’ve said before, the history of Journey is a long and winding road of highs and lows that is as storied as any band in the annals of rock and roll. Coming off of their fifth album Evolution which included their sensational singer Steve Perry's Rhythm and Blues Rocking screecher Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezin’ with an equally scorching Neal Schon Guitar, it continued to impress all who would hear it. The song was Journey’s biggest up to that point going to #16 on the Hot 100 here in the US and #12 in Canada,

The band was poised to up the ante going into the 80s with their sixth album Departure which was fitting, as the band had departed from the field of other competitors and began its rise to what would soon become legendary status. Departure was the first Journey album to go to the top ten album charts hitting #8. I’ve always loved Departure, it has a certain rock edge, and every band member brought their "A" game The guitar sound brought by the Supreme Guitar God of Melodic rock Neal Schon was nothing short of stellar. It was a gift that Neal discovered at a young age, which in the responding interview, he explains including one night when he told his parents he was going to spend the night over at a friend's when really he was going to have a guitar battle with one of the greatest guitarist who ever graced this earth. It seems like every Journey album has at least one Classic Rock standard on it. Departure was no different. It contained one of the greatest rock staples in the Pantheon of Greats: Anyway You Want. The second you hear those earth-shattering vocals to open the song, it’s a shock to the system:
The song is something special.
