Vehicle Flies Of Freeway into Water Killing 1

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 1200am 4-3-25
LOCATION: 17600 block East Fwy
AREA/CITY: Channelview
DETAILS:

911 dispatch received a call for a rollover crash with 2 occupants
The driver of the vehicle walked almost 1 mile to call 911 after crashing and then flipping his vehicle into the water
Deputies located the male who took them to the crash, and located his passenger, who was confirmed deceased
VCD units were requested to investigate
Driver was traveling Westbound when he lost control, went down the embankment to the feeder, and flipped into the water off the feeder
The vehicle landed upside down, and the driver made it out, and then pulled his passenger out of the vehicle
Driver then walked west until he came to a gas station almost 1 mile away.
Driver does not appear intoxicated and passed FSTs
 VCD is working to determine if road conditions, speed, or other factors contributed to the crash
