Disaster Preparedness | Heater Meals

What will you do if disaster strikes in your neighborhood? Are you prepared to provide for yourself, your family, and/or your neighbors or other members of your community? We have spent several years exploring different options for longterm meal storage and until recently, Heater Meals were not on our radar. That changed a couple of weeks ago!

Hurricane season is upon us and the HamRadio.World crew recently attended the National Hurricane Conference in New Orleans, LA. While we were there, Grace (KE3G) had the opportunity to speak with Erin from Heater Meals to learn a little bit about what they are and how they work. The way the Heater Meals are heated is pretty cool!

People in hurricane or disaster prone areas know that it is imperative to keep supplies on hand to prepare to fend for themselves in the hours and days after disaster strikes. While there are many different types and brands of shelf-storable foods to help prepare for a disaster, we tried the Heater Meals and they bear trying out! We are going to include a few of them in our disaster preparedness kit at home.
