Tour is a 32-step shift register with four outputs, designed for exploring pseudo-random rhythmic sequences with Turing-like controls. When combined with a mixer, it can also be used to generate pseudo-random CV and looping melodic lines.
Tour is the third firmware in the Logic platform. The module supports future firmware updates, which can be installed free of charge via USB using the web-based programmer.
A central idea behind Tour is looping randomness. While fully random sequences often lack a sense of structure, looping a random sequence introduces repetition, allowing patterns and grooves to emerge over time. Tour achieves this through a core shift register combined with an internal random source.
Tour can be used to create loops of stepped CV for melodies or basslines. When paired with a matrix mixer, it can produce multiple related CV signals to modulate different parameters within a patch.
In addition to CV, Tour can generate streams of gate sequences, making it a compact gate and CV sequencer in 4HP.
