The metal around the mounting threads for the side bumper brackets had rusted out from the back of front cross member.
This repair was not on the agenda but I noticed the issue when I removed one of the side bumper mounting brackets so decided to tackle as the next welding job.
I suspect it’s a common issue, so if you do have the bumper off, worth disconnecting the side bracket as well to inspect, although to repair you probably need the front wing off as well.
