Catch the BIGGEST fish at the Pier! 3 SIMPLE METHODS for Pier Fishing!

Today we are pier fishing in Tampa, Florida for the first time in the spring. While it can be intimidating to try to catch fish at a new location, the fishing techniques and fishing rigs I chose to use this day can be applied to almost any pier. I will cover three different ways to catch fish on the pier, including my favorite method for catching BIG fish. You will learn the exact tackle I use, including rods, reels and line, how to set up your gear, how to fish, where to cast, where to find bait.

Piers have always been a sure-fire bet for those who want to have a fun day full of catching fish. Piers don’t only provide structure for fish to hide from predators, they are also a place for oyster shells and crustaceans to attach themselves and subsequently attract hungry fish who are ready to eat a crunchy and delicious meal.

Piers also provide access to deep water without the need for a boat or a long rod to cast a far distance. You can easily walk to the end of a pier and fish deeper water than you ever would from the shore. Sure, you will be able to find big fish cruising the surf during certain seasons, but the pier is a major stopping point for fish to gather and congregate. You will generally find bigger fish in larger quantities at the pier.
