He then builds a path analysis model to test hypothesized mediators involved in the relation between parental alcoholism and adolescent substance use. He then describes how to specify the model, how to use likelihood ratio tests or modification indices to potentially respecificy the model. Finally, he concludes by describing the assumption of perfect reliability in path analysis and how inclusion of latent variables can address this limitation.
