Tools Needed:

10mm socket and ratchet
Wide flathead screwdriver (long) or plastic trim removal kit
Small flathead screwdriver (for harness disconnect)
Optional: razor blade, duct tape (for rear plastic repair)

Fix Summary (Approx. 45 minutes):

Roll up windows (driver's and rear lift gate). Close the sunroof if applicable.
Open rear lift gate.
Disconnect battery's negative terminal for at least 10 minutes to reset the ECU. Record radio presets for later.
Remove the black plastic cover on the lower edge of the rear lift gate with a flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool.
Remove 3 lower bolts securing the lock.
Remove plastic cover over the rear door strap and remove 10mm bolt.
Pop off the main plastic panel on the rear lift gate using trim removal tools.
Disconnect wiring harness for the rear lock.
Remove lower plastic cover sheet from the metal frame carefully.
Release cable clip from the door lock enclosure.
Remove the lock mechanism and wiring.
Install the new lock (remove any string if present).
Reinitialize ECU:

Reconnect battery.
Turn key to "ON" (don't start).
Roll windows and sunroof up/down following the sequence to reinitialize the auto features.

Test the new rear lift gate lock to ensure it works.
Reprogram radio stations.
