Hidden high in the mountains of northern Ethiopia lies Lalibela — one of the world’s greatest spiritual and architectural wonders.
Carved entirely from solid rock in the 12th century, its 11 interconnected churches were built to represent a “New Jerusalem” for Ethiopian Christians.
Each church — from the cross-shaped Bete Giyorgis to the underground passages connecting them — was sculpted by hand, centuries before modern tools existed.
To this day, pilgrims walk barefoot through these ancient tunnels, their prayers echoing off the red volcanic stone.
Join us as we explore the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, uncovering their deep symbolism, history, and the faith that continues to keep this sacred city alive.
