Is Winter Cycling Actually Worth It? A Messy Hilly Road Loop in the Forest of Bowland
Is it actually worth heading out into the hills when it's damp, muddy, and freezing? Today I’m taking you along on a classic UK winter ride through the stunning Forest of Bowland in Lancashire.
Starting from Bilsborrow (Lancashire), I head anti-clockwise through Chipping, tackling some of the region's most challenging (and messy / slippery!) climbs. We loop back behind Beacon Fell toward Bleasdale, navigating the messiest lanes the region has to offer, before heading back to the start. It’s a ride full of grime and mud, and a surprising amount of fun.
Route - Start/End: Bilsborrow, Lancashire
Key Points: Chipping, Beacon Fell area, Bleasdale, Claughton
Conditions: Classic UK Winter roads (Damp & Muddy!)
