Ranmaru's story is, surprisingly, actually kind of interesting. He gets a unique cutscene where he gleefully kills someone and looks back at Nobunaga with a smile. Mitsuhide just looks away cuz he thinks it's messed up, meanwhile Nobunaga is just smiling cuz he is aaaaall about that shit.
This stage has more interaction between Ranmaru and Mitsuhide, which is cool, we haven't seen that since SW1. SW2 and even SW4 really forgot that they used to be close. This plays more into his story later. Otherwise, this is your standard issue Anegawa battle.
Ranmaru has a pretty decent moveset. Despite having a big 'ole sword he doesn't swing too slow and he's got some solid range. His C1 is even usable which is better than a lot of characters. All his other attacks function and his C5 is particularly good for triggering a guaranteed Death (Or do they call it Shadow in this game? Slay? I forget.) element. Which means that's a nice chunk of HP coming off of anyone it hits.
