The Derbyshire Consort is a recreation of a Regency-era musical ensemble that might have played at social dances. The members are Ethan Chisholm on violin, Karina Velasco on violin, and Roy Wulf on serpent.
The trio performed live music for St. Paul VI Catholic High School’s production of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” (adapted by Janet Munsil).
This video is of the tune “Les Graces,” an English country dance.
In PVI's "Pride and Prejudice", this tune was played in Act I, Scene 2, which is the party at the Meryton Assembly, directly after the primary dance sequence (“Shrewsbury Lasses”) ended. It was used a background music while dialogue took place.
