Both education and health are one of the important sector in Indonesia. Schools which are places for gaining knowledge, do not have enough facilities, especially in sanitation area. 58% schools have bad sanitations, which can caused bad impacts, especially for health. However, from schools, our next generations are being taught to change this country. To encounter this, we propose a simple yet creative solution for schools to educate their students in health.

Our solution is called Hygiene and Sanitation Festival.

The first step is socialization. A month before the main event, we will held brief socializations about health & environment to school headmasters in the designated area. Then, we will pick ambassadors from each school to attend a one-month training about interesting health material. Besides that, we will cooperate with h&e experts who will monitor the cleanliness in each school for one month and the best school will be announced in the main event. In the main event, there will the winner announcement for the best WASH school chosen by health & environment experts. There will be competition for students and exhibition about health & environment which will be packed in an interesting and fun way. Ambassadors’ knowledge will be challenged in a competition for WASH ambassadors from each school. At the end, ambassadors will be briefed to monitor their schools health & environment for a sustainable system.

The strength of our project is we can cooperate with companies who are involved in the field of environment. From the festival, we can use a sponsorship system so we don’t have to worry about funds for the event. Elementary schools, which held the most responsibility to shape the young generation’s character and culture, can increase their role.

Hopefully, this will be a real solution to increase hygiene and sanitation in schools’ environment.
