We did the Everest Three Passes trek in Nepal in April 2023 in partnership with Kathmandu-based trekking agency Himalayan Masters. Along with our guide, Govinda Rai, and porter, Prakas Tamang, we trekked from Lukla to Everest Base Camp via Kongma La (5547 m), then from EBC to Gokyo Lakes via Cho La (5368 m), and finally from Gokyo back to Lukla via Renjo La (5388 m).

Our trek took 17 days Kathmandu to Kathmandu, although we had planned for up to 22 days. We were already well acclimatised from our Langtang Valley and Gosainkunda treks (which we completed just a few days before flying to Lukla) so we spent one less night at Namche Bazaar than most people would. We recommend doing this trek anti-clockwise, crossing Kongma La first, and be sure to acclimatise properly before crossing your first pass. Acclimatisation hikes from Dingboche (up Nangkartshung) and Chukhung (up Chukhung Ri) are great options.
