Golkoo is a mother, psychiatrist, and immigrant who has been playing the Setar, a traditional Persian instrument since childhood. Music has always been her language for expressing the universal human pain and longing she witnesses in life, the same calling that led her to psychiatry.
Golkoo performs with the Hamoon Ensemble, a collective of non-academic immigrant musicians who draw on the healing power of musical nostalgia to reconnect with their inner selves. She is passionate about uplifting underrepresented and minority artists and creating spaces where art fosters connection, belonging, and healing.
