Robin Hoods Bay in winter

Robin Hoods Bay close to Scarborough and Whitby in North Yorkshire, England is a magical place in winter. Let me walk you down from the Victoria Hotel down to the village and to the beach and seafront that used to be home to smugglers and their illegal items!

If you've never been to Robin Hood's Bay you will love discovering this place. It's a small fishing village and a bay located in the North York Moors National Park, 6 miles south of Whitby and 15 miles north of Scarborough on the coast of North Yorkshire.

If you don't mind a hilly descent, then Robin Hoods Bay is well worth a visit either for a day or for a longer stay.. There are cute little independent shops and places to eat and drink on the way down the steep road to the beach.

Visitor parking is all at the top of the steep hill which leads down to the lower part of the village. There are 2 public car parks, a small one just before the steep hill to the old village, and a much bigger one that used to be the old railway station.

One of the favourite routes visitors to the area enjoy is the Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay walk. This cliff top route follows a very popular section of the Cleveland Way.

Robin Hood's Bay is a picturesque old fishing village on the Heritage Coast of the North York Moors. It is a fantastic place for adults and children alike with a beautiful family (and dog !) friendly sandy beach, as well as rock pools to explore and ancient fossils to discover.

If you come to Robin Hood's bay remember to visit Whitby and Scarborough too!
