Car manufacturers intended for Canada, Mexico and China moving to US instead, Trump says

After putting a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs on Wednesday and increasing tariffs on China to 125 per cent, U.S. President Donald Trump said there is a “tremendous amount of spirit from other countries including China. China wants to make a deal, they just don’t know how to quite go about it.”

Asked about comments by the prime minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who said that the U.S. and the European Union could work out a trade deal that would be “win-win” and “mutually beneficial” for both sides, Trump responded “Yes, a deal can be made with any of them… and there will be fair deals with all of them.”

Trump then claimed that the United States had more car manufacturers coming in because of the tariffs. "We had three cancellations in Mexico of building a plant — they’re all coming into the United States. Canada they’re coming in, from China they’re coming in — they're coming in from everywhere,” Trump said.
