EnvIt is a robust and friendly Scattering Script for Maya. It will quickly and easily help you to create environment scene with all the essential scattering's tools combine with an efficient workflow process. All of that in a nice and pleasant interface.
It's a well know problem. Maya have always a lack of tool for Scattering. The famous one is ForestPack in 3dsMax which make it the leader in ArchViz. For VFX you have of course Houdini and also Clarisse which is at the base a powerful scatter tool. For realtime Unreal Engine is well know for is awesome populating tools etc... But in Maya there just nothing. You should deal with old particles or try to fight with buggy MASH. It's all the reason why I'm fully focus on try to provide a public, easily and robust scatter tool for Maya : EnvIt.
