When it comes to Iyer Mess in Malleshwaram, most people are familiar with the one located on West Park Road between 7th and 8th Cross. However, there’s a lesser-known, hidden gem tucked away in 17th Cross — Sri Rajarajeshwari Iyer Mess.
A no-frills place that scores high on cleanliness and service, Sri Rajarajeshwari Iyer Mess offers a soul-satisfying, traditional Tamil/Kerala-style banana leaf meal that feels just like home. On the day we visited, the spread included white rice, comforting sambar and rasam, an excellent aviyal, and a flavorful Thondekai (ivy gourd) palya.
What truly elevated the meal were the special touches — a crisp and spicy Masala Vade, a delicious Holige oozing with jaggery and ghee, and a decent Semiya Payasam (Shavige Payasa) to round it off on a sweet note. Served with warmth in a simple, house-like setting, this meal was both comforting and heartwarming.
