How to Correctly Clean & Protect Leather Boots

Your boots will only perform to their highest standard if cared for properly. This video outlines how to correctly wash and protect your leather boots or shoes.

Common myths:
1. "Nikwax/Grangers will re-waterproof my Gore-Tex/eVent/OutDry boots." False. These products simply add a water-resistant barrier back to the outer of the boot. If the boot is leaking, it's usually a sign that the membrane has deteriorated and it's time for a new pair.

2. "I need to condition my boots after every use." Nope! Your leather boots will only need conditioning once you notice the leather looks/feels dry.

3. "Washing up liquid/dish soap will do the same job." Please don't use washing up liquids; these contain harsh ingredients to remove burnt-on food and are overkill for footwear. You could also damage/dry out the fabrics of your footwear.
