In this watercolor tutorial, I’ll show you an easy and calm way to paint winter birch trees using a simple masking technique.
We start by masking the birch trunks, then paint a soft winter sky and background wet on wet. Once everything is dry, the tape is removed and the trunks are finished by painting along the edges, letting the paint create natural dark markings.
Finally, we add branches, small details, and gentle shadows in the snow.
This technique keeps the process relaxed and forgiving, and it works well for beginners as well as more experienced painters.
