BONGCHING CHAPANG PA THUSIM
A Thadou folktale of love, betrayal, and divine justice.
In a forgotten corner of a mighty kingdom, lived a poor and humble Man called Bongchingpa, a humble orphan with only a loyal dog and a cow. When nobles from across the land came to win the hand of a radiant princess, Bongchingpa too dared to try—but turned away in shame.
Fate, however, had other plans.
The princess saw him, and in a moment of divine instinct, chose him over all. But tragedy struck. She died on the journey to his village, and Bongchingpa, heartbroken, wasted away until only bones remained. After a prayer to the gods, he was miraculously restored—but while he slept on his wife’s lap, the king’s guards stole her away and buried him alive, leaving only a bamboo pipe to breathe.
His loyal dog, refusing to abandon him, followed a trail of royal scent to the Underworld Kingdom, where the wise Emperor of the Underworld heard his tale.
A test was devised. A secret confession exposed.
The truth came out.
The wicked king and queen were humiliated and dethroned. Bongchingpa, once forgotten, was crowned emperor, and ruled with wisdom, justice, and love.
📖 This is the tale of Bongching Chapang Pa Thusim — a story of rising from the earth to the throne.
