Several research organizations serve the animal advocacy movement, and it may feel overwhelming to find specific studies or relevant facts to inform your work.
Join presenters from Faunalytics, Plant Based Data, and Animal Data Project to better understand the differences between these research databases – and learn how to quickly find the right data. They will each start with a brief demonstration of their resources followed by Q&A with the panel.
You will learn how to:
Find research and other resources using Faunalytics, Plant Based Data, Animal Data Project, and other research collections
Identify different types of data available to support and inform your work
Incorporate research findings into your work
This webinar is designed specifically for people advocating for animals and in related areas, such as climate change, ecology, global food security, and human health.
This was recorded on Monday, February 26, 2024.
Presenters
karol orzechowski (Faunalytics)
For nearly a decade, karol has been the Content Director of Faunalytics, the longest-running Research Library of animal advocacy insights in our movement. Since joining Faunalytics, he’s overseen the addition of over 2,000 studies into this library, focusing on the most useful resources for advocates, summarized in plain language with key takeaways provided. Now with Content Manager Casey Bond, karol is working on various initiatives to expand Faunalytics’ Research Library and make it even more comprehensive, with an eye towards serving advocates' needs above all.
Tushar Mehta, Nicholas Carter, Nital Jethalal (Plant Based Data)
Since 2020, Tushar, Nicholas, and Nital have compiled thousands of peer-reviewed scientific studies on the health & nutrition, environment & food security, zoonotic diseases & pandemics, and economic & policy implications of a plant based food shift. These completions, or “libraries”, are an open access tool which is being used by people around the world. The team has summarized key papers, written extensive topic reviews (ie. State of the Ocean), and attended dozens of panels and podcasts outlining the science. Plant Based Data aims for a collaborative spirit to foster a rational understanding of the science, and also to identify and challenge misinformation.
Marci Regambal (Animal Data Project)
Marci oversees AnimalDataProject.org, a diverse repository of curated resources for topics concerning wild animals and those used for food, products, research, and entertainment. AnimalDataProject.org’s mission is to encourage critical analysis, support informed decision-making, and foster a deeper appreciation for the impacts arising from human-animal interactions. Marci has co-authored papers examining meat reduction and mechanisms for fostering social change in the food system.
