Karen Vidler is a book and paper conservator and bookbinder working in private practice. She set-up her first conservation bindery in 2006 in Twickenham, London. Her current bindery is located in Adelaide, Australia.
In this video she discusses her training and the types of work she was doing in her bindery when it was located in Northampton, UK. You will see examples of the work she undertakes and some of the techniques she uses to conserve books.
As a teacher in conservation education Karen is keen to explore individual pathways to becoming a book conservator or bookbinder. So she hopes you will find this video useful in gaining a better understanding of the work of a book conservator in private practice.
