Train Cab Ride NL / Extra Long / Hoofddorp Opstel - Schiphol - Arnhem - Amsterdam / VIRM / June 2021

Good day to you and welcome on board a brand new extra-long Train Cab Ride through the Dutch countryside. Last weekend I finally had the opportunity to record a long video again. And now here it is! Get on board the train and drive with me from Hoofddorp Opstel to Schiphol. From there we take the Intercity to Arnhem and after a short break back to Amsterdam Central Station. Have fun!

We start the ride at Hoofddorp Opstel. This is a train yard where we make sure the trains are ready for a new ride. From here to Schiphol Airport only me and the Train Manager are on board the train. It's a short ride to Schiphol Airport from here.

At Schiphol Airport we change the train number to the passenger train number 3127. The Train Manager and I are already on that number with the transceivers. I only need to change the number in the GSM-R(ail). Now let’s take some passengers to Arnhem!

First stop of the ride for passengers. Here they can change trains or switch to local public transport from Amsterdam. Like metro's, trams or busses.

At Utrecht Centraal the Train Dispatcher gives us a different platform than we normally use for this train. On the drivers tablet I can see this will happen already minutes before we arrive. Therefor I had the trains engines shut off on a 30 second early arrival. Normally we shut the engines off as soon as we are running right on the second. The 30 seconds early arrival gave me some spare time to arrive at Utrecht at lower speed because of the low speed junction we need to pass.

Every 24 hours the horns of the train are tested by the driver. Outside city limits of course.

The train from the opposite direction had a faulty head light and no spare light placed behind the window. Therefor I give him a call so he can correct that.

We arrive at Arnhem. Here our train runs further to Nijmegen (and back to Arnhem) with another driver. We have a small break. As the train returns in Arnhem we take it over again for the second part of this video. Ready? Here we go!

Intercity 3000 always makes a stop at this station where Intercity 3100 makes a stop at Driebergen-Zeist. This way both stations have an intercity every 30 minutes. As off 2022 intercity's will run on this route every 10 minutes!

Between Breukelen and Abcoude we take it easy with the trains speed. The tracks between those stations aren't the smoothest we have in The Netherlands. Since we're on time I keep the speed to 120km/h for mor passengers comfort.

All the old SGM trains are towed away to be demolished. Only a DM90 and the TEE train are left now. They also will be taken away from the Dijksgracht. After that the Dijksgracht will probably never will be used again. This shunting yard will make space for a dive-under and fly-over.
