When you look at how Jesus actually forgave people, the idea of a required “payment” doesn’t hold up. Jesus never treated forgiveness like a transaction, a debt, or something that needed to be covered by sacrifice. He simply restored people—freely and instantly.
I explore why forgiveness and sacrifice contradict each other, how scripture evolves away from the idea of payment, and why awakening—not payment—is what actually transforms us.
