If you've played many escape rooms, you'll certainly be familiar with maglocks - electronically-controlled locks that are used to secure doors or cupboards. This can help control the flow of the game, preventing players from accessing later areas or obtaining certain items until they have solved a puzzle or met some required condition.
Now most maglocks are simply mounted opposite the hinge of the door. In this video, I'll demonstrate a slightly more creative approach; using planks to board-up an entrance, as you might expect to find at a creepy abandoned cabin or mineshaft. When the power is cut, the planks fall off and players can proceed...
