This Isn’t Vanlife… It’s a Housing Crisis | Christmas in Cardiff 🚐🎄

Christmas vanlife in Cardiff didn’t start how we expected…

Before setting off, we talk about a Facebook post that really bothered us — a caravan parked on a road we sometimes use, and the familiar comments of “we don’t want that here.”
For us, this isn’t about vanlife at all… it’s about a housing crisis, compassion, and remembering that people are often just doing the best they can.

We then hit the road in the middle of the night on Christmas Day to avoid traffic, navigating Cardiff in the dark to drop off a parcel for a friend before finally settling in for the night at Tesco using the YourParkingSpace app (£11 well spent!).

On Christmas Eve morning, we check into a fantastic council-run campsite in Cardiff, costing £152 for four nights over Christmas, complete with full facilities. We take a look around the site, head into the city (where we discover Cardiff somehow has EIGHT Wetherspoons 😅), and settle in for a cosy Christmas evening.
