Helgi Sallo - "Vaid hetk on aeg"

HELGI SALLO (born in 1941), one of the most beloved artists in Estonia, has performed for nearly 50 years with equal success in operas, operettas, musicals, drama plays and TV serials. She has not got any special musical education, but her talent was discovered by the conductor Eri Klas who invited her to sing Maria in "West Side Story" in 1964. Since then she has been the soloist of the Estonian National Opera. Her roles include Pipi the Long-Stocking, Aldonza in "Man of la Mancha", Zerlina in "Don Giovanni", Musetta in "La Bohème", Madeleine in "Bal im Savoy", Sally and Frl Schneider in "Cabaret", Countess Zedlau in "Wiener Blut", Hanna Glawari in "Die lustige Witwe", Dolly in "Hello Dolly" and many others.

This song "Vaid hetk on aeg" (Time is only a moment), written by the Estonian composer Els AARNE (1917-1995) to the text of Victor Hugo, is recorded in 1983. Ms Sallo is accompanied by the author herself on piano and Ivo Juul on cello.
