This video shows the harvest and later the forming process of making the reed for the aulos.
It is only a small glimpse into the time intense process of making these ancient double reeds. Theophrastus tells us it takes 'only' 3 years from the date of harvest for the reeds harvested in june around solstice until they can be played.
There is a long time of seasoning between harvest and forming and also between forming and setting up and playing in the reed.
It is not an explanatory video, but rather thought to give you and idea of the process.
