Captain Fortuna gave his life in the line of duty on January 31st 2022, after suffering a gunshot wound while working an exterior fire up against a building. Our hearts are forever with the Fortuna Family. The Stockton Fire Department had nothing but love for Captain Fortuna. Max had a witty, sly, and subtle humor. He was a devout Christian, and loving husband and father. He was one hell of a fireman who never complained or shirked work. He had no enemies on the job and earned nothing but respect. He had been to upwards 800 working structure fires in his 21 years of service. He worked as a firefighter on the eastside Engine 12 for a number of years, with a stint on Engine 10. His 12 years as a Captain on Engine 2 puts him among the longest tours held on that rig in recent history. He was a teacher and a mentor to the new faces in the academy and on probation. He loved being a Stockton Fireman, and he Loved being on Engine 2. We miss our friend. We love you Max.
This live stream was produced by the California Professional Firefighters media company FireStar. FireStar went above and beyond to create this production and honor Captain Fortuna to the fullest.
