In this video I test the Useelink Tuya based water shut-off valve. This is one of the many clones available on the Chinese websites, such as Jinvoo or Zemismart. There are Tuya based shutoff valves or Wifi shutoff valves. I connected the shut-off valve to Home Assistant and created an automation that will turn off the water mains in my house when one of the Xiaomi aqara water leak sensors detects a flood in the house. I have them placed in various places in the kitchen and the bathrooms. I was looking to flood proof my house for some time, since someone I know had a flood in their house and caused considerable damage. One less thing to worry about.
The code to connect any Tuya based device to Home Assistant is very simple. In configuration.yaml add the following lines:
tuya:
username: "your_smartlife_email_address"
password: your_tuya_password
country_code: "YOUR_COUNTRYCODE_NUMBER"
platform: smart_life
Once you restart Home Assistant, it should detect your devices. Then you can create whatever automation you like.
If you have any questions regarding Home Automation, Hassio, Home Assistant automations, leave a comment and I'll try to help as quick and as best as I can.
