The Nichol's one-year-old Palm Harbor Riviera II home was just 500 feet off of Mexico Beach on October 10, 2018, when #HurricaneMichael made landfall there, pulling a massive storm surge and winds measured at 129 miles per hour nearly a mile inland. This crushing wall of wind and water created massive piles of debris - cars, bikes, poles, fences and more - and used them to knock down every home on its way inland. Until it came to the Nichols' Palm Harbor modular home. And there it pushed and pushed and pushed with all of Mother Nature's might - but even Mighty Hurricane Micheal could not knock over their home.

On April 19, 2019, the National Hurricane Center reclassified Hurricane Michael as a Category 5 storm, with winds of 160 mph. This made Michael the first storm to make landfall as a Category 5 in the US since Andrew struck southern Florida in August 1992 - Palm Harbor's very first Weathering the Storm story. Michael is blamed for 49 deaths and more than $5.5 billion in damages. This makes Hurricane Michael the fourth-strongest hurricane on record to make landfall in the Unites States.
