Minato Namikaze was the Fourth Hokage, and back during the time of the original series, he was hyped up to be the strongest Hokage, with the Third Hokage taking on the Edo Tensei Hashirama and Tobirama with confidence, yet nearly peeing himself at the sight of the Fourth Hokage’s casket. Minato’s character would see some development thereafter that reversed that characterization to the point that he was perhaps the weakest of all Kage save maybe Kakashi. Minato was still an impressive warrior though, and it was that impressiveness that made him worthy of the Title of Hokage. But what may surprise some fans is the fact that he actually just barely became Hokage at all. Minato was not the only person that was considered to become Hokage, and another was in the running. That person was the chief of the Uchiha Clan at the time, Fugaku Uchiha. The Uchiha had felt that they were not being fairly represented by the government and so proposed to make Fugaku the next Hokage so that they might have a little time in the sun. The Uchiha felt that there was a bias against them in the government, and to a point, they were right. Many of the older Elders who had been around during the founding of the village knew Madara and the long history of feuding between the Uchiha and Senju clans. And Danzo was one of them. Danzo not only saw the Uchiha as a threat, but also something to be exploited, used, and thrown away on a whim. In fact, Danzo could be credited as one of the great antagonists of Naruto, as without his influence, Itachi never would have had to destroy the Uchiha Clan, and Sasuke would never have been overtaken with grief. But I am getting way ahead of myself. The point is, Fugaku Uchiha nearly became the Fourth Hokage, but was eventually beaten out by Minato. This actually started the spiral towards revolution within the Uchiha as they believed it was bias that kept Fugaku from the seat. But let’s stop for a moment and wonder. What if Fugaku became Hokage instead?
