Vsevolozhsk is located 24 km (15 mi) east of St. Petersburg.
The original settlement of Vsevolozhsk was established between 1700-1721 following the Russian victory of the Northern War. Peter the Great began to distribute land around St. Petersburg for his "friends" who held;bed in winning the War.
On the site of the modern Vsevolozhsk there are several manors, including the Ryabovo manor. Its first owners was prince A. Menshikov, the vice-governor of Petersburg province E. Pashkov, the banker I. Frederiks and others.
The railway and station came in 1895 and as a consequence the settlement became a popular "holiday" village.
