Twenty Five Years ago, the Illinois Central was merged into the Canadian National. Seeing locomotives in IC colors is getting to be a challenge, but a trio of them were put together on the former DM&IR, and on a Limestone Train. We'll also see the massive MV H. Lee White unloading limestone, which is used in the taconite making process.
Things kick off over at the former heart of The Missabe, Proctor Yard. Before a crew got on, we'll get a nice up close view of the units, and learn a little bit out the prior service lives. Once the crew gets on, we'll chase the train down to Missabe Jct, see it switch, and make it's way to the Hallett Docks. Over there, we get a view of a ship unloading limestone. This ship being the H. Lee White. Following this, we'll see a CPKC local come past, and then the IC units pull past. As a bonus, one of Hallett's units come out, and we get to see many views never before posted on YouTube.
These locomotives are on borrowed time; with CN planning to replace them with rebuilt C44-9Ws in the very near future. Capture these classic EMDs while you can!
