Ranma 1/2 is back and more popular than ever before. A lot of older anime fans grew up with Ranma 1/2, which introduced them to the creative world of Rumiko Takahashi. But for many young fans, Ranma....maybe sort of introduced a few unusual feelings in them that it took them years to unpack.
In this video essay, let's analyze how Ranma 1/2 deals with LGBTQIA+ ideas and thoughts. Is the anime bi? Is the anime trans? Are you gayer for having watched it? All those answers and more...won't really be answered, but we'll talk about them nonetheless.
