This lift is situated in a mixed use building. The lower floors contain offices while the upper floors contain apartments, the top floor is a penthouse. The basement floors contain a car park and various plant rooms.
The lift was installed in 1989 upon construction of the building. The motor room was put in the basement on floor -3. This has the advantage of not needing an extra construction on the roof as well as moving the machine noise as far away from the apartments as possible. The motor room is also very compact, completely fitting underneath part of the stairs and therefore needing virtually zero extra space.
10 floors is rather high for a bottom drive lift and 1.6m/s is a well specced speed for the travel distance of 28 meters.
The lift was modernised in 2017 by AS Aufzüge. The company was founded as a subsidiary of Schindler in 2004 and unites some smaller Swiss lift companies, including Hans Schweizer who built this lift.
The modernisation included replacement of the whole electrical system as well as a new motor. The new controller is a Böhnke BP408, which offers all the features needed for most lift setups. The communication with the ZADyn drive happens over CANOpen Lift, which enables fully intelligent levelling.
