Vibraphonist Joe Locke plays two choruses of “Stella by Starlight”, employing the improvisation technique known as Four Note Groupings. This method utilizes triads with a passing note to generate melodic lines. Ed Saindon initially published this solo in the May 2010 issue of Percussive Notes. Gustavo Agatiello graciously shared Joe’s recording, while Eric Carraway from percuss.io enhanced the video with scrolling notation and an animated vibraphone visualization.
