AGI Wars: Evolving Landscape and Sun Tzu Analysis

The AGI (artificial general intelligence) landscape has shifted dramatically over the past few months, with the introduction of Renormalising Generative Models (RGMs) from Friston and colleagues at Verses.ai. We consider how an "AGI landscape," bounded by RGMs and H-JEPA (Hierarchical Joint Embedding Predictive Architecture), developed by LeCun at Meta, constrains LLMs coupled with (deep) reinforcement learning to provide inference. We introduce CORTECONs(R) (COntent-Retentive, TEmporally-CONnected neural networks) as a means for creating the neural-to-symbolic connection needed for full AGI. We use Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" as a basis for interpreting positions, players, and actions within this evolving landscape.

The Themesis three-week short course, "AGI Fundamentals: AI, Generative AI, and AGI" is designed to give students a conceptual (no code, very light math) contrast-and-compare study on how emerging AGI will differ from both generative AI and classic AI, and also identify how active inference is a form of generative AI, extending foundational work in variational inference. Daily readings and reflection exercises; weekly Zoom meetings for scheduled cohorts. (Information will be opened up on this course shortly.)
