In the courtyard of the DITSONG: National Museum of Military History, there stands a memorial erected in honour of fallen members of the airborne forces of 44 Parachute Regiment, 44 Parachute Brigade and the South African Special Forces. The Museum also displays a replica of paratrooper uniform, fitted with combat gear and weaponry. Join us as David Rilley-Harris, Curator of Edged Weaponry at DITSONG: National Museum of Military History, tells us a bit more about this elite arm of the South African special forces, and details the 44 Parachute Regiment’s involvement in peace-keeping efforts in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic.
